John The Baptist Prepares The Way For Jesus Coloring Pages
We have all seen the coloring books or DVDs that feature John the Baptist as a preschooler in the very beginning. While the story line might not be too far off from our own experience as children, the fact that he is already a believer gives the DVD a kind of edge that other children's stories don't have. We know that as children we were all taught to believe in God and to have faith in His promises. So what does John the Baptist have to do with all of this? Why is he such a great way to start a teaching series for preschoolers?
One thing that makes John the Baptist stand out as a great teaching tool is that he is so young. He is still growing up as a child. This is a great way to begin the teaching of the Word of God to children because this shows that the child hasn't yet received all of the bad news about Jesus yet. He is still innocent and young so he can't understand the things that are happening to Him and for children he can't understand this yet.
When we are younger we are able to figure out our role in the grand scheme of things. We do not know who or where the leaders of our world are, so we follow them and try to make a difference in the world. However, this isn't what the Bible tells us to do. For instance, when our parents tell us to go out and have fun and let's not worry about the rest of the world, then we know what that means. However, we also learn to follow our own lead.
Sometimes our role in the family is not quite as important as the way in which we feel about ourselves. However, if we are not careful we can easily slip into self-pity and feel sorry for ourselves, which is a form of depression. If we do this with a child, then it is even more important to be sure that we explain to our child how life is and why he or she should not be so self-absorbed. John the Baptist knows all about this, but the other children in Jesus' army didn't so he had to explain it clearly to them.
Because John the Baptist is such a great teacher, he makes coloring pages available to his children. He teaches us that it is better to give than to receive and by coloring pictures of Jesus on these coloring pages we can see that lesson right at our own homes. It is much better to have things we can share with our children than to sit down with them and try to teach them something that they may already know. There is no better way to teach a child than by hands on experience.
In fact, the best way for a child to learn about Jesus is through his own life. If he doesn't have a personal relationship with Jesus, then he will never be able to experience what it really means to follow Him. This is why John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus when he got baptized by John the Baptist. He was just a young child but he knew that Jesus was coming and he was waiting for him so he could experience his baptism first hand.
This is the same reason why he decided to make coloring pages for kids. He wants to share this life with them so they can experience the joy that comes from following Jesus. We know that John the Baptist did not die for his sins. We know that he washed other people's feet before he died. However, we also know that he experienced something that most of us don't have: eternal life. What does this mean for us as parents?
We are called to be God's children. This means that we can also experience the joy that comes from following Jesus. Let your child see John the Baptist's coloring pictures. They may just inspire your child even more to become a Christian.
